For five hours I wandered through the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney on a Saturday afternoon in March 2015. Though I think I’ve still only seen half of what’s on show there.

Gardens are peaceful places; flowers, ferns, tress and shrubs make life seem bearable more pleasant than usual. So I have to agree with American botanist Luther Burbank (1849-1926) who said: “Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul”.

Water, shrubs, thorny bushes and bugs, have the same effect for me, which is why I frequently photograph such things.
