List: Images for content creators

All content creators need images, all the time.

I’m confident with a camera, but I don’t take product- or stock-style photos and I almost never take photos of people, so even my own photo library doesn’t serve me very well when it comes to illustrating wide-ranging blog content.

Thanks to the world of Creative Commons, there is quite a few places to find high res images, graphics, music and video, to use in your own projects. Pixabay, for example, makes photos available under Creative Commons CC0, meaning you may download, modify, distribute, and use images even in commercial applications and attribution is not required.

Below is a list of sources I frequent when searching for images to support my content. Many of these sites curate images from other sources, such as Flickr. Nonetheless, they’re worth bookmarking because they do a lot of the hard work for you – search and organising images into categories and collections.

Always check the specifics of the licence attached to the image or resource before use.
